Why Get Your Teeth Whitened?

While tooth staining is a common part of our lives that many of us develop as we age, you might also develop some staining because of:

  • Not brushing or flossing regularly
  • Drinking acidic beverages
  • Smoking
  • Food dyes

These issues can affect your confidence in your smile. We believe that you deserve teeth that reflect exactly who you are, which is why we’re proud to offer both in-office whitening treatments and take home kits approved by our team of dentists and hygienists.

Types of Teeth Whitening

Plaque and tartar can contribute to tooth staining, but an oral assessment and hygiene appointment can help us remove plaque and tartar and detect potential issues before we start whitening your teeth.

Once we’ve gone over your oral health needs and performed a professional cleaning, we can offer either an in-office treatment or at-home whitening kits specifically chosen and recommended by the Hometown Dental team.

In-Office Whitening

We proudly offer Zoom in-office whitening services. During the treatment, we’ll protect your gums with dental dams before placing a whitening gel on your teeth and using an LED light to activate it. If you wear braces or other oral appliances, we may remove them before we start whitening your teeth.

The whole process usually takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete, with most people seeing results immediately after their session.

Whitening Your Teeth At Home

Our at-home whitening kits can help whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home.

When whitening your teeth at home, you’ll use a mould or tray (made like Invisalign trays) to apply the whitening gel. You’ll place the gel in the tray and wear them in your mouth for a recommended amount of time. It’s possible to experience results in about 2 to 4 weeks, but the treatment may take longer.

With the HTD whitening kits, you have 3 “pens” that you can use to apply the gel to your teeth and then use the LED mouth piece. You can plug the light into your phone or computer.
